Warning:
It's a photo-heavy post. I made this skirt out of an old, long skirt I had since a really long time. Read the story about the transformation here. Isn't it just perfect for the summers??

{An Indian Summer}
Just a quick outfit post and hopefully I will be posting more by next week. Apologies for not posting soon enough but life's been so hectic. And I had so many wedding to attend to - both in Bombay and in other cities. This outfit is what I wore to a day marriage - hence hardly any jewellery. I wore big green jhumkas but they are hardly visible in the photos.

It is basically a skirt and kurta which were bought as separates but which work so beautifully together. Especially when you think about how hot summers can get. The dupatta is an add-on with the skirt and I just love the way colors work together.
Maybe I should have done a monsoon post now that its raining :P But its so sunny half of the time!! Tell me, what would you wear to an Indian summer daytime wedding? Something lighter? A net saree? Do share.
Skirt, Kurta & Dupatta: all from Ethnicity

{Icecream Colors}

The Raoul SS'011 collection. This soft, summery collection reminds me so much of the delights of summer, of melting ice creams and the cool evening breeze. It is soothing to the eye in the harshness of the sun. Heart it totally!

Knotted - through the ages!

Simple, stylish, perfect for the scorching mercury: this season's hottest hair trend, the Top Knot. But it isn't really new after all. For have we not seen our rishi-munis sporting this look? The famous 'gossiper' Narad Muni also styled his hair in an "up-there" knot - and it must have been a cool style for travelling so much in the hot Indian climate! Not bad for a hair style to last since 100 B.C.

Its a very flexible hair style and already popular among school / college girls (though their's more like a loose bun). It's been sported by Jennifer Lopez and Kareena Kapoor among other. Oh, yeah, me too! ;)
Here's one tutorial for a slightly different version that I found online just for you, lovelies:

Skirt UP!!
There’s something so cool and comfortable about a skirt. It makes you look stylish, very down-to-earth (that depends), and fun. I mean, yes, we all LOVE jeans – but too much of blue can be boring. So why not throw this fun cloth into your wardrobe, especially when the mercury is getting hotter by the day…
When it comes to skirts, one has immense variety to choose from. Different lengths of hemlines, straight or flared, patterned, textured, plain, wild, with or without boots / tights.. it can never be boring!
I surfed around and collected some really beautiful looks with skirts, from style-arena and The Sartorialist and from here...
Tamed:
The gypsy look under control - those shoes rock!
Experiments and Observations:
Ethnic jacket, long skirt, a bindi and kool hair-do. Love her!
I dare you..
No really..he's carrying it with such elan.
Dare you -II
That's a dhoti, btw...

Marimekko
"Marimekko's ready-to-wear collections offer high-quality, functional clothing for all occasions, including business, leisure and evening wear. The collections comprise woven fabric garments, knitwear and jerseys, which are chiefly made from pure natural materials: cotton, wool and linen."
It's modern, fresh, bold and fun! Not neccesarily what I would wear, but I love the quirkyness of the individual pieces...pleats, bows and ruffles make them look very feminnine yet not over-the-top cute.
