USI - Uni Style Image
I recently went into a factory outlet of USI and was pleasantly surprised at the range of clothes and their affordability. USI offers a range of clothes for both men and women, and are easily available at various stores located throughout major cities. An Indian brand into classic casual wear – manufacturing and retailing t-shirts, s w e a t shirts, tracksuits, tops and jackets – USI has been in the market for 11 years now. The thrust of the brand is on exporting to some European countries – France and England being the major markets. though USI started as a t-shirt brand, it’s now manufacturing a range of other casual wear products too.
Their philosophy is "It’s not about making clothes like no one else does; nor is it to clothe anyone the way we want to. It is about offering an expression of the good things in life and spreading the message across." Ummm....
Personally, I think their clothes make good separates, but not everything is wearable. You will have to hunt through the stuff to find something exciting enough. I loved the tobacco brown sweaters and emerald green sweatshirts, which, unfortunately are not available on their website.
A range of clothes which I found on their website (not much, as is the case with most of Indian sites):

Fashion - the movie
Unfortunately, there aren't many images of the movie available on the Internet, esp. of the character of Mugdha Godse. She sported awesome looks and I totally loved her attitude.
Priyanka Chopra's look keeps changing, and it's a very beautiful subtle change. Initially, she wears everything matching, when she's come straight from Chandigarh, and slowly, as she starts climbing the stairs to success, her palette becomes soft, glamorous.
"When she starts losing it all, she becomes very edgy - everything from the colour palette to the make-up becomes softer to show she doesn't care any more about her looks before her resurrection takes place. " - Rita Dhody, Stylist, Fashion the movie.
I loved almost all the looks and dresses, and here are the few I could find online:

100% recycled
I do, but frankly, not always. Because in our cities, you get poly bags with everything you purchase - groceries, toiletries, clothes, food etc. We save those bags, and use them to throw away garbage, carry lunch boxes to office, store miscellaneous stuff, or to carry heavy stuff from one place to another. So It's kind of difficult to totally stop using them.
But we can try. By using fabric bags as much as possible (paper isn't strong enough). Or other alternatives, like these:
This bag, available here is 100% environmentally friendly, the main fabric is a RECYCLED Jute coffee sack and the lining is certified ORGANIC Hemp canvas of the highest quality. And it's cute too! Plus big enough to put all your groceries in. They are expensive, but am sure if we looked around, we'll find similar stuff in our local markets.
These seriously cool bags, made out of recycled packaging (polypropylen) and cotton, are worth a dekko. Like most recycled stuff, they aren't cheap, but if you wish to purchase them, go here. Even if you don't, it's a pretty cool site. :P
Like always, I wish such stuff was available in India too. It is, actually, but not as gorgeous. And definitely not cheap. Till they do that, we are back to polybags. And trashing the planet. :(

Must-haves winter '08
Not really. Nothing’s must-haves. It’s all an individual perception. These are stuff you may stock up to look fashionable and smart, but it really isn’t a necessity. What is a must-have - any season - is attitude.
However, let’s focus on the more ‘required’ stuff:
Boots: Experiment with colours this season — go wild with scarlet, mustard yellow, electric blue, aubergine, mint.
Ponchos: Team your skinny jeans and boots with a poncho. They look real cool while keeping you warm – but keep in mind that not everybody can carry off them well, and may end up looking slouchy. Always wear what you feel comfortable in.
Tunics in solids: Like last year. :P Opt for solid colours this season as opposed to the usual prints. And team with knitted scarfs, shawls and skinny jeans. Tights if you can bear the cold ;)
And of course, the usual accessories in bright, funky blocks of colors. Do I sound bored? I am! I don’t see much new stuff coming up. It’s all recycled, restyled and presented to us. New bottle, old wine. Maybe that’s what fashion is really about! And it still looks beautiful (sigh!).
News doing the rounds in fashion circles is that the late night schedules of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) and the Delhi Fashion Week (DFW) have been cut short due to 'Karva Chauth' falling right in the middle of the two big shows. 'Karva Chauth' falls on Oct 17. Now, on Oct 17, WIFW will hold its last show at 6 p.m. and at DFW, the last show is scheduled for 5 p.m.
While on DFW, it’s on from today, promising luxury and creativity in full throttle at the Emporio bringing together an eclectic mix of designers ranging from industry top-notches to emerging youngsters. Organized by the newly created Fashion Foundation of India (FFI), the five-day DFW will run parallel to the premier Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) to be staged at the Pragati Maidan exhibition complex Oct 15-19.
I do hope the new kids on the block like Abhijeet Khanna, Alpana and Neeraj of label Azara, Jason Anshu, Atsu Sekhose, Gaurav Gupta etc. show some promising stuff.
